Human Resources Tips for Gymnastics Centers: Keeping Staff Members Happy, Part 2

When you keep staff members happy at your gymnastics center, you’ll benefit in many ways as the director. Not only will you be able to avoid dealing with the fallout from losing instructors and spending extra time hiring and training new staff members to fill those holes, but you’ll experience the many rewards that come with having a stable, enthusiastic team. We’ve already discussed two ways to keep your gymnastics center staff members happy: allow for a healthy work-life balance and offer opportunities for growth.

Now we’ll take a look at two more areas that will help improve not only turnover rates but also the overall atmosphere of your gymnastics center. First, include periodic evaluations and recognition as part of your center’s culture. Second, request input from your well-vetted staff members. Of course, your Jackrabbit Class software will be there to help you implement these plans in simple yet professional ways.

Implement Evaluations & Recognition for Staff Members

The same staff members that get excited about opportunities for professional growth will no doubt welcome periodic evaluations. The kind of growth-minded individuals you’ve hired will want to be challenged to bring their expertise to the next level. But of course, they’ll also appreciate recognition for their strong points as well as progress that they make.

When you’re scheduling evaluations and informing employees of the format, Jackrabbit Class software will make every detail easier. Not only can you easily share the evaluation format with all staff members through the Staff Portal Dashboard, but you can also schedule individual meetings and send completed evaluation forms to staff members once you’re done. Jackrabbit can also help you recognize valued staff members and inform your gymnastics parents of special achievements through the Parent Portal, allowing others to honor staff members who set themselves apart from the rest.

Request Input from Staff Members

When you take the time and effort to hire high-quality staff members for your gymnastics center and invest in their growth, you’ll want to get their feedback on current programs as well as potential changes. While you’ll be sure to benefit from staff members’ expertise, asking them for input will also benefit you in another way: they’ll feel appreciated and even more invested in your gymnastics center! When a staff member offers a winning idea, you can further enhance their sense of worth by recognizing the innovation as that person’s brain child.

Another way you can allow staff members to be more involved in your gymnastics center’s progress is to conduct weekly KPI reviews. (Jackrabbit Class software makes running reports and sharing appropriate details easy, too!) When you allow staff members in on the business end of things and offer performance-based compensation, everyone truly wins. Many Jackrabbit customers have seen exceptional growth as a result of including staff in those ways.
