Have you been thinking about getting some help with your exercise program by hiring a personal trainer . . . but the cost kept you from pulling the trigger? Perhaps scheduling a consultation will help you meet that need while staying within your budget.
The overwhelming majority of people who come to me for a consultation go on to training with me. However, I am seeing a slight increase in the number of people who are already training – or want to begin – but need help from a professional and schedule a consultation. I even have other certified personal trainers who come to me for help … it speaks volumes when others in your line of work pay you to teach them because you’re the one who has the experience, the ability, the proven track record and who knows how to help people achieve their goals.
(NOTE: Initial meetings with potential clients are FREE, and therefore, do not include all of what is presented here unless training is pursued). Here’s a brief synopsis of what I do in a “full length” consultation. We will discuss your current health and medical history. I have a couple of forms that you can fill out in advance (I will send them to you via email to save time) which will get the ball rolling. It is important for your trainer to know about any limitations which might impact your ability to do certain types of exercise.
I will obtain your resting blood pressure and pulse. I will also learn about your skill set to determine what kinds of exercise might work best for you. If you aren’t going to be training with me, I will need to know what kind of equipment you have available – if any – so I can plan exercises based on your ability to perform them.
Nutritional guidance is extremely important since, if you aren’t putting the right kind (and amount) of fuel in your body, your results won’t be as good as they can be. We will spend a considerable amount of time on this so you will have an acceptable idea of how you should be eating and drinking.
At this point, I usually do physical testing to see where your current abilities lie. If you plan to train elsewhere, I will begin to tweak your current training program or completely overhaul it. I will show you the correct way to do the exercises to make sure you get the most out of them while keeping your safety paramount.
This is only part of what I do, but as you can see, I cover a lot of ground during a consultation. I tell people who come here to allow for 2 hours minimum. I have only been able to keep it limited to 2 hours on a couple of occasions when I HAD to stop because I had other clients scheduled!
As I stated earlier, most people who come here for a consultation, schedule and pay for a training package at that time. If you aren’t paying for training at this point, the normal consultation fee of $50.00 per hour is waived. Everyone who has had one says the value far exceeds the cost and it is far less than training packages – even my training packages which are about the least expensive available!
Don’t waste your time in the gym performing haphazard exercises with poor form any longer. Be proactive. Schedule a consultation and make your training all it can be. Contact me today.
