Fun & Fabulous Poolside Wedding Ideas, Part 1

Last updated on April 26, 2019 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Taking the plunge into marriage is a moment many couples look forward to for months or even years. Whether your engagement is brief or extended, making sure your big day goes off without a hitch is probably one of your biggest priorities. What better way to make sure everyone has an amazing time at your wedding than to host it beside the pool, everyone’s favorite place for relaxation and celebration?

Listed below are some creative and captivating ideas for planning your ideal poolside nuptials.

Add an Air of Festivity with Floating Flowers

Nothing enriches wedding decor quite like the inclusion of a graceful assortment of floral arrangements. If you’re planning on hosting a poolside wedding ceremony or reception, consider adding a bountiful display of your favorite flowers to the patio, backyard, beside the pathways, and of course, to the pool itself. You can go with individual rose blossoms in complementary pastel colors or in brilliant red for an especially romantic touch.

Or, you could come up with some creative ways to highlight your unique love with flowers, like using blossoms fastened together to spell out your new last name or you and your fiancee’s initials. Flowers for the pool can also be arranged in various shapes, such as traditional bouquets, arches, wreaths, balls, or any number of other designs you think would add a touch of elegance to the atmosphere for your big day.

Helpful Tips for Creating Stunning Floating Flower Arrangements for the Pool

First, glue polystyrene foam onto the underside of a tray. Use plenty of hot glue so that the foam will remain firmly in place. Wait for the glue to completely dry. Next, saturate a section of floral foam with water. Divide the floral foam into two equal pieces. Set the floating tray down with the foam side facing down onto a flat, dry surface. Situate the saturated floral foam pieces on the top side of the tray.

Now you’re ready for the fun part — arranging the flowers! Cut the stems off of the flowers you plan to use in the arrangement. Be sure to leave enough of a short stem to poke the flowers and any greenery you’ve selected firmly into the saturated pieces of floral foam. The exact way you arrange the flowers and greenery is up to you. You could go with similar blossoms that all have a uniform color. Or you could choose to start with the greenery and craft a lovely arrangement of blossoms on top. The same type of arrangement can be made using artificial flowers if you prefer a more durable option which you can use over and over again for different special occasions.

These cascades of botanical beauty floating freely across the surface of your pool could be just the special touch you’ve been hoping to find. Whether you go with real or artificial flowers, you’ll wow your wedding guests with these delicate decorations.
