We have some original ideas for your next pool party if you’re ready to be a little more inventive than cooking burgers or ordering pizza and sticking with the same luau theme. We’re here to help you kick your party off with imaginative themes, organizing advice, and suggestions for how to play your favorite music!
Fun Themes
The Classic Rock theme is a popular idea for theme parties in addition to the themes we’ve discussed previously. Each participant can act as a different rock star, or you can distribute props or accessories. Ask visitors to dress up like a famous rock star and then offer a gift to the visitors who guess the most correctly. Hors d’oeuvres fit for the red carpet can be served, as can beautiful cupcakes with edible glitter. Even without a more specific theme, Karaoke parties can be enjoyable. And, of course, you can couple your rock star theme with some Karaoke on the side too. You can now even purchase your own Karaoke machine for less than $100, believe it or not.
It’s not necessary to limit a Water Wars party to children. We’re assuming that many of the adults in your social circle enjoy competing as well. You can decide on the captains for each team (or let your visitors vote on them) and make up a tournament bracket with different games, such as water polo, basketball, and even chicken. You can even make or buy a traveling trophy that you can pass down from year to year, which has the obvious advantage of giving your fiercely competitive team something to look forward to every year.
Specialty Add-Ons
Even if you do stick to the same theme every year, you can add something special to the food or rent a piece of equipment to make each party different. Your guests will anticipate something unique on the menu, whether it’s a fresh kabob recipe, an ice cream sundae bar, a novel cocktail concoction, or a frozen beverage choice. Additionally, you may rent a cotton candy, popcorn, or snow cone maker. Or hire a food vendor truck and have them park on the street beside your home or in your driveway for a couple hours for a whole new take on casual eating.
Goodbye Treats
Do not assume that adults would not enjoy goodie bags, much as they would enjoy costumes, themes, and fun competitions! Naturally, keep in mind your visitors and your theme, but everything goes! For a daytime party, perhaps include lip balm with SPF and a personalized koozie. For an adult-only party, you might want to think about bringing a hangover kit that includes headache medicine, an ice pack, and a bag of coffee for each guest. Make sure to designate someone to hand out these gifts to your guests, or place them in a convenient location where they will be picked up as soon as your guests leave.
If you do serve alcohol, be sure to prioritize guest safety by asking them to choose the designated driver option or use an Uber if they can’t safely drive themselves home.
