Photographers Need for Custom Flash Drives Continues to Grow

Last updated on June 15, 2010 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

The world of professional photography is growing at a tremendous rate. People are ditching the in-store photo studios in favor of photographers who can come to a location and shoot their kids or their family in a more laid-back setting. Couples are choosing the photographer to be one of their biggest investments when they tie the knot, knowing that their photographs will give them some of the best and longest lasting memories of their big day. This growth in the industry, in turn, has created a growing demand for options that allow the photographer to quickly and affordably transport and transfer images.

Professional photographers often hand their customers their proofs on a CD or DVD, so they can view them at home comfortably. Online albums are another option sometimes used by today’s photographer. While these options are effective ways for the photographer to get the proofs to the customer, neither one helps with the photographer’s desire to build a stronger brand. Custom flash drives do.

With a custom flash drive, a photographer can order a large quantity of affordable flash drives with their name and logo engraved on them. Then, when the photographer needs to offer proofs to the customer, those proofs can go on the flash drive, and the customer not only gets the pictures, but also a device that helps solidify the photographer’s brand.

Photographers can also use flash drives when they need to transport their high-resolution images, such as when taking them to the photo lab to be printed. Depending on the flash drive, these devices can hold between 20 and 15,000 high-resolution images, and yet they are just a couple of inches long. To hold the same number of high-resolution images on a CD, the professional photographer would need multiple disks, which becomes burdensome and no longer cost effective.

Flash drives can also be used as portable portfolios. Photographers who want to give potential customers a taste of their skills can hand them a pre-loaded flash drive with some of their best shots. When the individual views that flash drive in his or her home, they will have the opportunity to really study the photographer’s work. This is particularly valuable for wedding photographers, because they are in stiff competition with other photographers, and couples choosing a photographer for their big day tend to be quite selective.

We believe that custom USB thumb drives are going to be in even greater demand among photographers in the coming years. As more and more professional photographers embrace the benefits of flash drives, they will begin looking for a way to use those drives to help further their brand, and custom flash drives clearly meet this need.
