Review: 2 Residential Waterslides from S.R. Smith

Last updated on March 8, 2018 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Today’s water slides come in a wide range of colors and styles to meet your needs and preferences. Of course, you already know that pale blue is an option, but so are white and earth tones that blend well with surrounding landscaping. If your children (or those who will be frequenting your backyard swimming pool) are very young, you may want to start with a small, inflatable slide, instead of a more permanent addition to your swimming pool area. However, if you’re out to delight and amaze older children, teens, and adults, then we have some great recommendations for you!

Typhoon Curve Pool Slide

The Typhoon Left Curve Pool Slide by S.R. Smith is large enough to offer thrills for anyone on your pool party guest list while offering a smaller footprint and lower price point than most similar slides.

Standing 7 feet, 4 inches tall, this slide comes with a wide and deep flume and has a 275-pound capacity. It has both the capability of delivering 25 gallons of water per minute and the option of connecting to a garden hose. The eco-friendly system allows you to reduce water waste, and the Sandstone or Granite Gray finish will blend with any surroundings. You can also choose from either left or right curve designs, depending on the space you have available.

While not all water slides wear well with a salt water pool, this one does. The built-in ladder and moulded handrail allows for a firm, safe grip. Add in the 3-year warranty and easy, 1-hour installation, and you have a great slide for your money in the Typhoon Pool Slide.

Turbo Twister Pool Slide

The Turbo Twister Pool Slide from S.R. Smith has an elegant and durable rotomolded design.

Its alloy construction offers it a greater tensile, allowing it to hold up under harsh weather and long-term use. Like the Typhoon, the Turbo Twister is salt water friendly and comes with a 3-year warranty; also like the Typhoon, it allows you to choose between Left and Right Curve designs and a Gray Granite or Sandstone finish. Unlike the Typhoon, however, the Turbo Twister stands taller at an impressive 8 feet, 7 inches. Its flume length of 14 feet, 4 inches, combines with a weight capacity of 275 pounds, allowing the Turbo Twister to offer thrills for kids as well as for adults.

The enclosed ladder offers extra safety, and the high-volume water delivery system brings in over 40 gallons per minute. Thankfully, it also includes a waste-reducing feature that allows water collected at the bottom of the slide to be fed back to the top. If you purchase this slide, be aware that its assembly is slightly more complicated than the others we’ve reviewed and may require more than one person.
