Commercial Wire Baskets Can Stand the Heat

Last updated on August 1, 2008 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

In the peak of the summertime, temperatures and humidity levels rise, and you dread going outside. Moments after walking through the door you are drenched with sweat. Weather like this makes you grateful for air conditioning and pools and ice cream and anything cold to make the heat go away. But especially if you live in a place where you’re not used to constant heat, you look forward to temperatures getting a little bit cooler.

Our bodies can stand a wide range of temperatures but are most comfortable within a relatively small range. But some animals can withstand much warmer temperatures than we can. Think about camels trekking across a desert drinking little water. But nonliving materials can withstand variations of thousands of degrees. Consider a wire mesh basket made of 330 stainless steel. It’s built out of sturdy material that can be exposed to temperatures over 2000 degrees Fahrenheit (that’s about 1200 Celsius for anyone reading this outside the U.S.).

This is one grade of stainless steel used by Three M Tool (threemtool.com) in making custom wire baskets for industries. But they also can use 304 or 316 stainless steel, carbon steel, or whatever other type of metal an industry needs for manufacturing its products. This company is based in York, PA and serves a wide range of industries.

Often manufacturing parts made in a precise size and shape requires treatment at extremely hot temperatures (again, we’re talking a thousand or more degrees). For example, parts used in jet turbines must be able to stand rapid movement and temperature changes to fly an aircraft into the air and safely to its destination.

Several high profile manufacturers of aircraft parts (including Boeing Aircraft & Satellite Systems, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Eaton Corporation Aerospace) use custom wire baskets made by Three M Tool to hold their parts as they are made ready for use. But these baskets are used by many other types of industries. Three M can customize baskets to whatever size, shape, materials, mesh size, and finish an industry needs and so serves a diverse range of manufacturers. Advanced CAD technology allows accurate design of a truly custom product that will be durable and just the right dimensions.

Several manufacturers of medical and pharmaceutical products also use wire baskets to hold their items. Surgical instruments must be made to the precise size in order for their users to accurately perform their work.

This custom steel canister splits open so medical parts can easily be inserted and taken out to go through a vapor degreasing process. Another canister is made in a slightly different design to hold medical parts, but Three M can make baskets or canisters in whatever design a company desires.

Customization is the key here—just let them know what you want in a wire basket, and they’ll give you what you want. They’ve designed custom products for over 50 years and have adapted to new technology over the years to keep their products at cutting-edge quality. Check out their website and see if their products would fit your industry’s needs.
