Wood Flooring: Answering Objections

Custom Milled Wide Plank Flooring is what we do here at Rehmeyer Flooring. We believe wood floors are the best option for your home and business and that we’re the best ones to design and create your custom wood floor. But we get it: we’re just a tad bit biased. Perhaps you read our earlier articles about the economic and environmental benefits, as well as the health, convenience, and appearance factors in favor of hardwood floors. But you still have a few reservations. Well, then, this article is for you.

Financial Investment

While we addressed the issue of the longevity of wood floors over carpet, as well as their low-maintenance characteristics, we’d be amiss if we didn’t also mention that today’s technology has made the initial investment required for a wood floor to be much more attainable for many Americans.

Our Authentic Hand Scraped Collection is our top-of-the-line offering, literally hand-tooled by an expert craftsman to provide the look and feel of time-worn beauty. However, by using our custom-built, hand-held power tools, we can offer a similarly distressed appearance in our Old Trail Collection at a price many more can afford. (It’s no surprise to us that the Old Trail Collection is our most popular choice.)

Warmth and Comfort

The chief downside to wood floors, compared to carpet, is their relative lack of comfort, particularly during the cold winter months. Under-floor heating can easily remedy the temperature issue, and wood is definitely warmer than tile or stone. (Wood also offers more cushion and less chances of breaking items that may fall than those other hard floor options.)

In addition, area rugs can be used in bedrooms or sitting areas for added cushion and warmth. While any kind of carpet will trap allergens, area rugs are unlike wall-to-wall carpet, in that they can be more easily removed for cleaning. And if they absolutely need to be replaced, that task will come with far less financial stress or disruption to everyday life than replacing the carpet in an entire room.

Here at Rehmeyer Wood Floors, one thing we really love about working with wood is the amazing ability it offers us to provide truly custom flooring. Each floor is truly a one-of-a-kind work of art, because each board is unique, as is each tree. Whether you’d prefer the maximum amount of customization available with our Extreme Custom or character-grade Pioneer Collection flooring, you can appreciate the careful selection and workmanship that accompanies all of our floors.

If you still have questions, let us know. Since 1995, we’ve been wowing customers and building relationships with our community.
