I can’t believe how quickly Christmas is coming. When I was little it always seemed like it would never arrive. Now that I’m getting a bit older (note, I’m still not labeling myself as old!) it seems like it’s here in a flash. I was in Sam’s Club on Tuesday night and heard the Christmas music (already!) for the first time this season.
I have a few, precious few, Christmas gifts taken care of and some others in my head that still need to pour out my fingers and become a reality. I know what I’m going to do for my dad, I just have to find a couple hours to sit down and make it. I know what my sons are going to make for my mom, I just have to get in the mood for very messy hands and surrounding area. I have something for my sister. I have a couple things for my sons.
Now, what to do about the rest of the gifts? My husband just had a birthday and I got him a really neat charging station for his birthday, but now what do I get him for Christmas? Oh, and did I mention I have a son turning three years old the day after Thanksgiving and another turning one on Christmas Eve? How is a body supposed to keep up with finding new and exciting things for every occasion?
I’m thinking it would be neat to get my husband an X10.com Remote Control Keychain along with a Socket Rocket Lamp Module (x10.com). It may sound like a funny gift but it would be one of those practical gifts. Every time the family is out after dark my poor husband has to stumble blindly into the house and try to find a lamp to turn on so the rest of us can see our way into the house. Our living room is not wired to a light switch right inside the door which means we have to walk around to each lamp and turn it on individually. Living in a home we rent, we don’t really want to go about rewiring everything. With the remote, he can just turn on one or even two lamps before we even get out of the car.
In theory, my sons should not be too hard if I can just get a chance to shop without them. I have picked up some Curious George books at a good price as well as a little baking set with a rolling pin, cookie cutters and a cookie sheet. I know my four and a half year old is going to enjoy that.
I guess it’s about time to sit down and make up a list of who I need to get presents for and what the spending limit is and all that good stuff. If I sit here and worry about it I still won’t get anything accomplished! Happy shopping to all of you! Only 49 days left!
