Do you consider your backyard a work of art? Even if it’s not yet worthy of such nomenclature, it can be! Think of it as a blank canvas on which you can paint in a variety of colors and textures to create the look and feel you desire. As with any art, consider the kinds of emotions you want to convey. Since this is a physical space, we often think of it as “ambiance”: the overall environment and sense you desire for yourself and others to experience in your outdoor space. This kind of aim, of course, goes beyond any single element and extends to all aspects of designing your poolscape.
Consider whether you want to feel a sense of awe or relaxation, like you’re at a tropical resort or ancient bath — or perhaps something else, entirely. Whatever motif you’re going for, your pool floor can make a major stride toward accomplishing that vibe — after all, based on sheer square footage, it’s a visually significant element within your yard! From pavers to glass tiles, you have a variety of floor types from which to choose.
Completely Versatile, Luxury-Level Swimming Pool Floors
Imagine flipping a switch to transform a large patio into “pool mode,” allowing the tiled surface on which your guests were just dancing to literally lower to become the bottom of your pool! Or for entertaining young guests, that same pool could become a full wading pool with a safety-conscious shallow depth. This kind of custom pool design isn’t just something to imagine; thanks to Custom Pool Systems, it can also be a reality. The ultimate in outdoor entertainment and versatility can literally be at your fingertips.
Custom Mosaic Tile Swimming Pool Floors
Perhaps you’re not in need of the kind of transformation described above, but you do desire a custom tile design. A swimming pool floor mosaic might be just the thing to take your pool to the next level of aesthetic appreciation. AquaBlu Mosaics offers over a dozen design collections, ranging from turtles to tribal designs and even medallions. That company also allows you to submit your own mosaic design. Materials can range from Venetian glass to handmade porcelain and can incorporate dimensional additions — such as shaved pebbles, flat stones, and sea glass — for an even greater degree of personalization. The completed tiles are then delivered to your pool builder. You may also add shimmer and dimension with a vast assortment of sea glass or shaved pebbles or even flat stones for a more consistent finish.
Aggregate Finish Swimming Pool Floors
If you’re looking for a little less bling and a more understated, natural look combined with the practical benefit of durability, an aggregate finish might be your favorite when it comes to pool floor materials. PebbleTec is one company that offers this kind of earthy-looking, stain-resistant, textured finish which will allow your pool to blend in with its natural surroundings while maintaining a non-slip surface. Also offering a Water Color Selection Tool, this option could allow you to set your pool water to appear to have a dark blue hue like that of a tropical lagoon.
