A Home Away From Home at New Creations

Last updated on August 27, 2013 by Sozo Staff 1 Comment

New Creations is a safe haven. It’s a home away from home for your children. We not only instill discipline within your children, but we also teach them how to have respect for others, themselves, and God. We want your children to recognize and understand that Jesus can be the answer to their life problems and that with His help, anything is possible. Many of the students at our Christian boarding school are troubled teens, young men and women who are experiencing problems at home related to drugs, alcohol, disobedience in school, lawbreaking, or issues with authority. Our unique approach, which combines discipline with reward and love, has helped countless children over the years.

At New Creations, we find creative and fun ways to teach your children important life lessons. Every year, we send the boys on a Boy’s Wilderness Camping Trip and the girls on a Girl’s Survivor Island Camping Trip.

The camping trips teach our boys and girls how to work together to get the job done. A fire is built, and they are responsible for keeping the fire lit for their whole trip. So shifts are assigned, duties are carried out, and everyone learns how all the small pieces come together to make a complete whole.

On last year’s trip, cooking their food was also an exciting experience. It was important for them to keep the fire lit because that was the only way they were going to be able to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It taught both the boys and the girls how much preparation really does go into making a meal. The boys even learned how to catch, clean, and cook their own fish.

The girls are provided with once-a-month getaways.  They get to experience fun and instructive activities like learning how to prepare and cook new and exciting foods. For example, they recently cooked homemade egg rolls and crab rangoon. Such activities show them the importance of putting in the hard work during the preparation of a meal so that they can relax and enjoy their creation later on.

As you can see, even though we keep the students occupied with dormitory chores, campus jobs, and school work, we offer plenty of enjoyable occasions and outings. Students are responsible for the cleanliness of their own dorms, which teaches them personal responsibility, but as they prove their reliability and maturity, students are also allowed some personal free time.

Last year, the students attended a concert where they listened to 10 Christian bands perform. It was an excursion that encouraged the children to worship God and serve Him with all of their hearts.

The horse stable is also exceedingly popular among our students. Animals have always been a calming force when brought into contact with people, so we think it’s a great way for our students to learn about the gifts of nature that God has provided for us, as well as encouraging a special bond to develop between the children and the horses.

At New Creations, we want out students to make a positive transition from childhood to adulthood. We set goals for each student individually based on their abilities and progress. We want the best outcome possible for every individual, and we believe that through God, that’s exactly what will happen for our students. Whether you have a troubled teen or you just want your child in a strong, Christian-based environment, we believe that New Creations Christian Boarding School is an option that your family should consider.

Note: New Creations Boarding School closed on July 2016 after 47 years of successful ministry serving troubled youth.

A Christian boarding school can be a great escape for a young person – removing them from their current distractions and immersing them in a Christ centered environment. While it might seem extreme to send them away, oftentimes it’s the best decision a parent ever made. Just wait until they come back …
