If you have a designer wardrobe but like to mix it up a bit, why not consign with The Penny Pincher? In exchange for your gently used high-fashion clothing pieces, you’ll earn a portion of the price we receive, allowing you to increase your clothing budget and, by extension, add to your own designer wardrobe!

If you’ve never consigned with us before, we realize that the prospect may seem a bit daunting! Our aim is to help you feel confident enough to give us a call and make your first appointment!

What We Consign

The overwhelming majority of our inventory is accepted on a consignment basis, meaning that while you won’t receive up-front payment from us, you will receive a contract stating the portion of the purchase price that you will earn upon the sale of any items we accept and offer to consign for you.

Most items we consign can be described as like-new women’s clothing. All pieces must be made by one of a select number of high-fashion designers.

Now that you’re familiar with the types of items we accept from our consignors, we have just a few more details to divulge.

First, we wish to honor our customers’ high standards and expectations when it comes to each item’s condition as well as its authenticity. As a result, any items that are damaged or show significant signs of wear (such as holes or stains) will be refused. Any items brought to us for consideration must be freshly cleaned, pressed, and hanging on hangers.

When We Consign

Some items may be appropriate for us to accept, but only during certain times of year. The reason is simple: we don’t want to distract our shoppers from what we know they’re looking for at any given time of year or risk cluttering our sales floor with items we know simply won’t sell until another season. Essentially, think of the season ahead, and if your item is appropriate for that, it will probably be considered.

Let us describe the general categories we receive during the various months of the year. In January only, we accept cruise wear. From February through April, we consign clothing items suitable for spring. During May and June, we accept summer clothing. From August through October, we gladly receive clothing appropriate for fall. In November and December, we’re delighted to receive both winter clothing and holiday party pieces. You can also view a more detailed list (including shoe styles and sleeve lengths) on our website.

We accept items only by appointment. We offer time slots on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. By making individual appointments, we can ensure that we have the staff available to offer your items the attention they deserve and consider your consignment in a timely manner. One exception to this typical method is that home furnishings may be evaluated through sending photographs through e-mail to us. Contact us through our website for more information.
