Consigning with The Penny Pincher Boutique: A New Contributor’s Guide

Well known throughout Westchester County, New York as a premium consignment shop, the Penny Pincher Boutique offers only the best in lightly used fashion. Specializing in designer women’s apparel, we make designer brands more accessible to many and provide our customers with a worry-free shopping experience.

Part of what allows us to offer our customers the high-quality, authentic famous name clothing that we do is, of course, because of our beloved consignors — all of whom were once new contributors just like you! Our pledge to provide quality service extends to you as well; we carefully outline our consignment policies so that you can arrive at your appointment already knowing what we accept and what you can expect from us.

Specialty Items We Consign

First of all, we want to make sure you understand what we mean by the word “consign.” We do not pay outright for any items you may submit. (The only exception to that rule would be classic handbags made by designers Chanel and Hermes.) Other items may be accepted on a consignment basis, meaning that you will be paid a percentage of the amount we receive if we are able, in fact, to sell the items you submit.

The majority of items we accept and carry at the Penny Pincher would fall into the category of new or gently used designer women’s clothing and related items, such as women’s shoes, accessories, and jewelry. We also accept a select number of home furnishings and gift items.

Specific Standards We Require

We are unashamedly scrupulous in both the designers and the condition of items we accept, out of deference for our customers’ distinguished tastes and their expectations of the Penny Pincher.

We have a well-earned reputation for offering only premium-quality, authentic, high-fashion pieces, and we will continue to foster such an image.

In our aim to offer our customers a worry-free shopping experience, we very carefully inspect each piece we accept for consignment, not only for authentic markings based on our knowledge of the designer, but also for condition. Any item we accept must be free from significant or obvious signs of wear, such as holes or stains. Items must also be ready for our sales floor: freshly cleaned and pressed and hanging on a hanger.

Scheduled Appointments We Keep

In order to provide our valued consignors with the attention they and their submissions deserve, we consider items on an appointment basis. You can reserve a time slot that’s convenient for your schedule on any day except Thursday or Sunday. This policy allows us to offer you undivided attention and a timely review of any item or items you wish to have us consider.

We do offer tentative evaluations for small home furnishing pieces through e-mail prior to your appointment. Simply send photographs of any pieces you wish for us to consider to this address: [email protected]

To make your first consignment appointment, call or e-mail us, anytime!
