New Beginnings At New Creations

Last updated on July 28, 2013 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

New Creations Chapel offers children of all ages four unique avenues to learn and grow in Christ. They begin from pre-elementary age with their childcare program all the way up to teenagers and young adults in the Boarding School. New Creations serves children from all over America with a goal of surrounding them with the Creator and His creation. The children at New Creations are led gently towards the Lord through Christ centered academics amidst the wonders of nature and the comfort of community. Their four major programs stem from the heart of New Creations Church.

All the programs occur on nearly 600 acres of the eastern Indiana/Ohio border. Tim and Bonnie Cummings founded New Creations in the late 1960’s from a joint calling to help troubled teenagers. They began inviting troubled young people into their home for brief periods. A boarding and day school, child day care and a camp for all ages evolved from these humble beginnings. Forty years down the road the programs still find life in the Christ-centered spirit of the Cummings.

All of New Creations’ programs grew from the Cummings in-home operation on the foundation of several core principles. The dedication of Christ-like adults guiding students through Christ-centered education and maturity has been present from the beginning. A 24 hours staff oversees the boarding school dormitories. They guide students through a rigid schedule rooted in the Biblical Word. Christian discipline fosters proper respect for authority, which in turn re-enforces the transition from troubled teen to mature adult.

The damage a troubled child may do to a family often appears un-repairable. Full recovery involves every person addressing the issues for each relationship to heal. This is an equally strong tenet for New Creations. Sending a child to a therapeutic Christian boarding school for a re-occurring issue is never an easy decision. Parents make this decision in order to educate their children outside of a negative environment. New Creations is a protected environment well suited for shaping students into mature Christian individuals. Before a student can return home, they must repair stressed family relationships. Once the student has begun this process, and made some progress in other areas as well, they will be ready to leave.

New Creations strives for academic excellence as part of Christian maturity. From the beginning, the boarding school involves each student in his or her own educational schedule. Each child learns differently, New Creations acknowledges this fact by creating personalized schedules. Teachers, faculty and staff all monitor daily class attendance and performance. Through positive encouragement, evaluation and praised improvement, they try to help every student’s intelligence bloom. New Creations’ wide variety of classes and grade levels generate from a computer-based system. This seamless operation allows more time with each child.

Forty years of growth and success are a testament to the stability of the New Creations programs. Parents are welcome to broach questions and issues with the New Creations staff at any time. Look at their website for contacts and more program information.

Note: New Creations Boarding School closed on July 2016 after 47 years of successful ministry serving troubled youth.
