In a previous article, we focused on the basic building block of any Maxtrix® collection: the Basic Daybed. It’s important to remember that unlike almost any other bedroom set on the market, the original choices you make about your Maxtrix collection are just that: they’re a starting point. From there, you can make all kinds of changes throughout the lifetime of your Maxtrix furniture, thanks to the remarkable flexibility of this unique furniture system. So instead of looking at more choices, we’ll consider potential phases your Maxtrix system may go through, as it morphs to meet your child’s changing needs.
Playful Preschool Years
As your child transitions from toddlerhood into preschool years, you’ll want to provide a safe place for him or her to play. What better way to do that than a Maxtrix Play Loft like the ones pictured here?! By choosing a Low Loft height, you retain safety, along with an angled ladder with hand rail for entering and a sure-to-be-a-favorite slide for getting down.
Add in a bed-top tent and under-bed curtain — and maybe even a princess tower over the slide — and your child will have plenty of space for his or her imagination to soar! (You may choose a similarly playful Mid-Loft or Bunk Bed design.) Storage needs can be met with pieces such as a 4-Drawer Chest or a 5-Drawer Narrow Chest.
Sibling Sharing Space
Perhaps your family is growing, and you need to maximize floor space by stacking more than one bed together into a Bunk Bed. From an L-shaped Parallel Bunk Bed to a Quad design or a Corner bunk configuration, there’s definitely more than one way to stack ‘em! The same storage furniture you chose earlier will still look great with the stacked beds; to decrease the chances for sibling rivalry, we’d recommend having the same number of pieces and/or drawers for each child to use.
Independent Study Zones
Especially for those kids who get to benefit from bunking up, independent study zones can be achieved with individual Desks; the coordinating Hutches can provide small spaces for them to decorate according to their own tastes, as well. As an alternative, you may wish to give kids separate parts of the room, as they get older, each one with his or her own Study Loft, Storage Bed, or something in-between. The same storage pieces that have stood alone can fit under a Maxtrix bed by removing the Crown Moulding Top and Base.
At whatever “phase” you decide to begin your Maxtrix journey, remember this: You can always change it up, later on. Because nothing is irreversible, your initial investment is protected, and you can enjoy your furniture for years — and phases to come.
