So many colors, so many choices! When it comes to colors in general, you can certainly start with universal or neutral colors that look great on everyone and then consider which colors look good on you, personally. After that, it’s time to consider color combinations. After a general understanding of color theory, this basically boils down to current trends. Whether you’re trying to combine existing pieces in your wardrobe or you’re ready for a little retail therapy, knowing the trending combinations for 2019 (see Part 1 & 2) will help you decide!
Sunrise to Sunset with Pink & Gray
Considering the universal color blush pink (combined with the allure of rose gold or “millennial pink”) as we looked at in a previous post, along with the modern appeal of grey, it’s no surprise that pink and grey creates a winning combo! Versatile enough for any season, you can select various shades of both colors. Think of a soft, blush pink sweater with dark grey pants in the winter and maybe a flirty, bright pink mini skirt with a light heathered gray cropped tank or T-shirt for summer. Tie in matching accessories for a well-coordinated, chic outfit for weekday work or weekend fun.
Tropical Vibes with Coral and Purple
It’s not orange, pink, or red, but coral is another warm shade that’s even more easily adaptable! Especially well-suited to coordinate with bright, rich purple, coral is one of those colors that looks great on just about everyone. Since both of these colors are so bold, you may want to combine just one with a nice neutral and then use the other for an accessory or two. Combined with gold accessories, this combo can look elegant as well as fun! When you wear happy shades like coral and purple, you’ll impart positive vibes to everyone around you.
Feminine Flourish with Purple and White
Of course, we all know that as a classic neutral, white goes with anything. But if you want to update a classic white staple with another color that’s bound to highlight your feminine side and make your skin look soft enough to touch, purple is the way to go! Paired with your choice of gold or silver jewelry, this color combo can bridge the gap from a garden party to a night out on the town. When people see you, not only will they get the impression that you’re stylish, but they’ll also see you as sophisticated, classy, and smart.
If any colors in these combinations don’t look complementary with your skin tone, just make sure that the item that’s “not your best color” isn’t close to your face. Even if you look best in cool tones, you can still rock that coral skirt! If a white top makes you look washed out, nothing says you can’t rock white sandals or crops.
