Ensuring Your Promotional Items Do Their Job

Last updated on February 1, 2011 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Promotional items, like those offered by CFPromo give your business the chance to get your name and logo out there in the community where others will see it, all while rewarding your most loyal customers. Yet, these items do you no good if they are not used. Here are some tips to ensure that your promotional items are, in fact, used by the people who receive them.

Make Customers Earn Them

The most effective promotional items are those that are used, not those that are tossed away. If you make your customers earn the promo, then there is a far greater chance that they will value it and want to use it. The way in which you can require them to earn it really depends on the type of business you run.

For example, some businesses will offer punch cards, and after a set number of visits the customer receives a discount and a promotional item. Other types of businesses, like gyms, will offer an incentive when the client reaches a personal milestone. You will need to be creative, but if you can find a way for your customer to earn the promotional item, you can almost be certain it will get used.

Don’t Forget the Kids

Kids love trinkets, and your promotional items will get a lot of use if they are given to kids. Inflatable balls, small toys, and even pens and other school or office supplies are all valued by your youngest customers. As you are buying your promotional items, consider adding in a few things that you can give to the kids that come through your business. As a side benefit, your adult customers will appreciate the fact that you took the time to give their kids something to keep them occupied while the family visits your establishment.

Choose Something They Can Wear

If your customers are wearing your logo, they become a walking billboard for your business. Choose items, like hats or t-shirts, that are wearable, to benefit in this way. Many people will wear an item that was given to them for free, and when they do, others will see your company’s information. Keep the item stylish to increase the likelihood that the recipient will wear it.

Consider Practicality

When choosing promotional items, consider what people in your area use. A Seattle business could give away umbrellas or rain parkas and almost ensure they would get used. Sun visors or ball caps work well for businesses in Arizona. Ice scrapers can be an attractive option for businesses that live in climates with snowy winters. As you are considering the items available to you, always consider whether or not your customers have a need for that item.

Remember, the item has to be useful for it to do its job. CFPromo has a wide range of useful, high quality promotional items at an affordable price. With their help, you can find the right item to meet your customers’ needs.
