Starting a Business Online

Last updated on September 1, 2013 by Adverticia Staff Leave a Comment

If I was to start a website based business based around shopping, what would I sell?  There are sites that have auctions.  Other sites have have a variety of goods like Walmart or Target.  I think though, that I’d want to focus on one sort of item, something fun and something that would be enjoyable for me to work with day in and day out.

When it comes to owning your own business it’s important that it be something I enjoy and want to look at, think about and deal with everyday and sometimes all day long.  It would have to be something I was willing to dream about and loose sleep over on occassion.    Afterall, what would be the point of having a business that I didn’t want to pour myself into?  No half-hearted business is going to be successful.

My husband knows a man with an internet store.  It’s The Home Automation Store.  Now that looks like a fun job for some.  The Home Automation Store sells x10 products for automating ones home in a cost friendly manner.   He sells things like home security systems that sound of sirens and call your cell phone when there is a security breech.  They also sell X10 home automated devices to make it easy to control the appliances and lamps in your home from other parts of the house using wireless remotes.

Another interesting business, if you’re on the techie side of things, is CFGear.  This business provides customized bulk flash drives.  It’s really neat to see how they imprint company names on the flash drives and to see who all they have been able to provide them for.  You can see that in their Kudos page.

Of course then there are the business that require more hard labor.  Three M Tool looks like it is a neat business.  They make customized wire baskets to meet any need.  I’m sure it gives the job a fun side to be able to make things to fit just the right area and do the job to the customers specifications.  It’s pretty neat to take that kind of puzzle and come out with what the customer wants.

As neat as these different companies sound, I think my enjoyable, dream job would be to sell scrapbook pages, cards and other items that I have made.  I love to spend time on these items and I would love even more to know that other people like what I do and are willing to purchase it.  That would be my dream business.  Obviously it probably wouldn’t be a big money maker, but it would be enjoyable and give me that little extra income on the side that helps pay for the extras in life.
